Just noticed the mail list! Crazy.

I'm in chaos mode getting ready for the Southeastern Laser Enthusiasts
Meetup (pew pew pew) starting tomorrow and haven't been watching the
MAGFest chat rooms. Just peeked don't see anything choatic but I'm not in
the software dev channels.

In prior events people could reg hotel rooms with no money down, and when
event hit a lot of Gaylord rooms became available because people then
clump together with friends to save money / have fun. So they managed to
get the hotels to fix that. That is what is up with the change for next
year.

Other events I attend (Shmoocon in DC) have issues where tickets sell out
in seconds and they're used to having to build huge load balanced
infrastructure that is needed for about 2 minutes a year, doubt that is a
thing for MAGFest yet.

MAGFest kind of grew up around this in-house written Python based
management system. It handles schedules, staffers, registration, food and
some other details. A lot of development work is put into it but it still
can have issues, and I'm not sure of it's scalability :-)
