Yea for some reason this is more obvious on the computer webpage and completely hidden on the app. You can join the channels directly by clicking channels

Apparently, you can click on the word Channels itself and pull up a list of all available channels.
Thanks to Mike W. for pointing that out.

Slack is fine. It's a little weird that you have to be invited to each channel, but oh well. The fspagaming channel (for boardgames and I guess vidyagames) invite is here:

Also, pro tip, if you want to see people's real names instead of their usernames, that's in the Preferences. Preferences -> Messages & Media. Under Display Options.

I chose slack because I'm already using it for the pindev group with daneesi and Gerry Stellenberg. Besides we already have some FSPA slack adopters. Think of all the really important stuff you're missing out on! Oh the FOMO..

Steve,

The FSPA has a tabletop game auxiliary group, with a separate email list, that meets infrequently at peoples houses. You can do the thing by emailing
 gaming-request at fspazone.org<mailto:gaming-request at fspazone.org>
with the word "subscribe" in the subject line.
We also frequently end up playing some board and card games at the EoS parties, so you can look for us there.

i didnt even think about it, any other serious boardgamers here?

I've been trying to get a group together to play first martians: adventures on the red planet and several other complicated but fun co-operative board games

anyone interested please reach out off-list

Also we could have off-topic channels for talking about, say, bowling!!! ;)

Ironically, this is exactly the kind of discussion that would go well in a Slack or Discord channel :)

The more I think about it, one or the other (still prefer Discord) has a ton of benefits. Per-league channels, general announcements, realtime communication at big events like PAPA or Pinburgh, etc.

I'd prefer Discord too. Mostly because I already use it.

Nice, but why not Discord? Slack is more business-focused, Discord is more for hobbyists/gamers.

Hey all. I created an FSPA zone slack channel (fspazone.slack.com<http://fspazone.slack.com>) where we can all BS about pinball and League stuff. I thought about this at pinburgh, and thought it would be cool to have a more rapid/casual forum for us to connect and chat. Certainly not a replacement for this email list at all, but just another means to consume our hobby.

If you're not familiar with slack it is a chat service similar to IRC for those that may remember. Its pretty common with the developer communities and there are clients available for desktop, iOS, and android.

If anyone is interested in joining here is an invite link!
