Yes. :)

In all seriousness, we do try and make league as fun as possible. However, there are limits to what we can do based on what machines are on location. Due to the size of the Car Pool league, there’s no way an SLO can just skip the game. If the operator is making good money on the game being there, don’t expect it to be swapped out anytime soon.

What is in our control, in conjunction with the operator, are machine settings and maybe changing out smaller rubbers for larger rubbers to make a particular shot more difficult. Just look at the electric chair on an Addams Family at PAPA for A Division. The only way we can make a special rule to not do a particular shot is if there is a known malfunction for that particular machine. A good example is Battle mode on Stargate. You can’t legislate a particular strategy out just by saying you can’t shoot it. However, operators have disabled switches and diverted in the past to have the same effect. (Junkyard with video mode, clipping switches to prevent endless alley passing on Skateball.)

One would think a league would have an interest in making competition enjoyable. Am I mistaken?

That's easily fixed - if it's not fun, don't do it :)

Stern definitely still needs to fix how many points you get from it (64 million). All people do at Lyman's is practice that shot so they can do it in league and many can do it 100% of the time (and ours does not automatically plunge to the scoop). In fact, I played with AlwaysSmooooa last week and he purposefully didn't start modes so he could do it every ball.

So people are putting in the work to dial in a shot to execute a strategy that gives good points? This sounds familiar... as in "basically every pinball machine ever." You'll have to forgive me if I see this as people reaping the rewards for their work.

It feels like people are only against this because it's a video mode, not because it's worth a lot of points.
