[FSPA] LOTR magnet question

I own one and am not aware of that as a 'feature'.  It either goes smoothly through or gets caught by the magnet.

Those who know me know that I don’t learn game rules well, so I have a question:

In LOTR, does the ring magnet sometimes actively repel the ball during a game, like during some modes? Mine appears to be doing that - while I have a guy here to buy it!
