You may want to consider laser cutting thin acrylic to make a protector. 
Something that goes where the flipper buttons screw down against it. 
Similar to some of the side rail decoratative things on the high end 
Sterns. This would provide protection for the artwork against all of the 
hand sanitizers.

I'm sure something like it exists commercially.
