I remember the first time I met Scott, I had recently gotten my first
pinball machine or two, and was hanging out at Redzone in Fairfax one
evening, and had met up with a friend, Brian, to play the pins. It wasn’t
league night, and there were just a couple others playing the pins that
night. At one point Scott had come in to work on his Cleopatra and another
game that was off, and I struck up conversion with him since he was working
on the games, and at this point I had little experience with pinball
repair, so I was fascinated. We ended up talking about pinball repair and
league for like 15 minutes and then he had to go to MD and work on some
more pins. It was because of him and Matt starting the home league that I
got into fairly regular competitive play!

Another memory, playing at Carpool I informed Scott that the Venice Beach
ramp on his Baywatch wasn’t registering. “Well you’re not shooting it fast
enough for the speed sensor!” ...wait, there’s no speed sensor, I own
Baywatch! “Of course there is in the early editions like mine! If you don’t
shoot it fast enough the software knows and won’t register it!” Uhh, sure!?

One time I was hosting FNT, and the ST drop target stopped
registering...Scott popped it open and immediately identified the opto, and
deducing it as a cold solder joint. I fired up my soldering iron and did a
speedy reflow. He complimented me, “Good job!” ...thanks man, that’s a
serious compliment from the master of pinball repair.

Anyway, I’ll forever keep my Baywatch’s “speed sensor” tuned up, just for
‘Sott’. RIP.
