[FSPA] Preplays are better

Great feedback from everyone. I still don’t like pre-plays due to location sizes and having to play so many extra games, and honestly questioning the pre-play scores I’m up against when someone doesn’t show. Contrary to what I emailed last night, but having some time to think about it, dropping lowest two is still the easiest.

What Edan and I have been effectively doing is re-organizing groupings each week at Mustang Sally to ensure 3 actual players play together, sometimes 4. Those 3 player groups may have a missing player in them for forfeits, so you’ll see a mix of 3 player and 4 player groups, and 4 players groups are not always at the end of the group ladder.

Last night it just became obvious this isn’t always possible when missing players were in the first and last two groups. But it worked out in the end. It’s just 2 players groups are so misaligned regarding points available. I could have effectively deferred to the rules and taken a 15 point night by myself in group 1 but that’s no fun.

For consistency, I think (based on Edan’s feedback since he is the SLO) we’ll continue doing what we’ve been doing at Mustang Sally and then compare notes with other leagues after summer season is over.
