[FSPA] Summer 2023 Playoff results for MOM’s Organic Pinball

Playoffs happened Wednesday at MOM's and we only got warned about the store
closing once! Division winners got the coveted mini pinball trophy courtesy
of the inimitable Kevin Walton, which this season was Stern Star Wars!

A Division
1st - Douglas M Malcolm - 16 pts
2nd - Dave Hubbard - 14 pts
3rd - Adam Ruben - 6 pts
4th - Eric Steinberg - 4 pts
Pro tip: A good strategy to win playoffs is by winning every game, which
Douglas did. Dave was right behind him, taking second only when DMM was in
the house. Both had monster games on Godzilla, but by the time Dave started
his final ball the math was squarely on Douglas' side. Adam mounted a brave
defense, only getting his tower buzzed by Eric in their head to head match
on F-14.

B Division
1st - Rick Elgendy - 16 pts
2nd - Candace Selby - 9 pts
3rd - Jake Bartkowiak - 7 pts (HTH)
4th - Rob Wintler-Cox - 7 pts
The less said about this match the better.

Seriously though, Rick did what we at MOM's like to call "pulling a
Douglas". After having his afterburners fail to kick in on F-14, he pretty
much went on to dash the hopes and dreams of everyone else for the rest of
the night. On the final game of Star Wars, he had almost double the points
of anyone else. Jake made a really good showing in his first season of
competitive pinball. However, Candace should be considered the real winner
of the night because she got a 59oz bottle of Evolution Organic
Cold-Pressed Orange Juice for $1 off. Honestly, it's good stuff, you should
try it.

C Division
1st - Dave Reitz - 14 pts
2nd - John Locke - 13 pts
3rd - George Arfken - 8 pts
4th - Casey Fowler - 5 pts
Dave has had his on and off nights, but Wednesday he was wearing the
correct shirt and drinking the correct flavor of kombucha. John's Paw
Patrol shirt was giving Dave a run for his money -- we suspect it was the
deciding factor in his win over Dave on Walking Dead -- but he lacked that
certain... I don't know... fermented, slightly effervescent *something*.
George made a good showing on the EMs (duh!) and Casey took home a close
win against John on a big scoring game of Sword of Rage.

D Division
1st - David Smitley - 13 pts
2nd - Jami Dennis - 11 pts
3rd - Sandro Fouche - 9 pts
4th - Christine Rueter - 7 pts
Somebody forgot to tell these guys about "ladies first." Manners are their
own reward, gentlemen! David took the lead in the first two rounds, but a
tough loss led to all the fellahs being tied up at the end of round 3. But
both Jami and David sunk 4 pointers in round 4 to draw out their tie and
sneak ahead of Sandro. But Jami got squashed like a bug on Spider-man,
giving David the edge to win it all. Christine, it should be noted, got all
of her points because higher seeds gambled on Spider-man with her and lost
big time.

Congratulations to all the playoffers, and thanks to everyone who came out
and just hung around. We have every intention of doing it all again next
season starting in mid-September.  See you then!
