We’re considering the same for our tournaments at Carpool and Mustang Sally.  As operators it makes more sense.  For a stand-alone TD I would say no.  Matter of fact, Josh Alber was paying the MSB tourney dues to IFPA until I won and asked him if he took out the money for IFPA and he said he just pays it.  I paid it for him out of my winnings and told him he shouldn’t have to pay out of his own pocket, so now we’re looking to do that.  Forgot about tonight’s tourney but will discuss it with him soon.

Good evening current, former and hopefully new Carpool league players,

Pre-registration has begun for the winter/spring season at Carpool.  We play on Monday nights at 8pm (check-ins at 7:45pm).  Dues are $40 / person for the 10-week season.  Week 0 is on January 30th and Week 1 is on February 6th.

Please pre-register if you plan on playing as it will help with setting up week 1 and getting started by 8:30pm.  Week 1 always takes a while due to manual setup and positioning of players with the inevitable walk-ins we get.  We’ll send out a reminder email to those that have registered a few days before.

Changes for this season
The operators (Rich and Kevin) will be paying the IFPA dues of $1/person, which previously came from the league dues.  We’re also going to put games on free play during finals (including warmup).  The kitty will remain to make it fair to players coin-drop when free games exist on a game, but all those proceeds will go into the prize pool.  Between the IFPA dues and kitty, we expect the overall prize pool to increase by $150-200 depending on how many players are in the Spring season.

Carpool has also agreed to provide a $20 and $10 gift certificate each week.  We’ll award these to the players with the highest point totals each week and give them out the following week.  We’ll figure out a tie-breaker method.  Remember that this isn’t geared to the division A or B players but all players since anyone can rock their group at any time.  Pre-plays will not be eligible for gift certificates, and we may also limit the number a player can win each season.  More details will be worked out once I do an analysis on all previous season points / player / week.
