
<html><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"></head><body dir="auto">I spent a wonderful 5 years in Pittsburgh and feel like I should give some recommendations for all of you going to Pinburgh. These are going to be spots relatively close to the University of Pittsburgh as that is my expertise but Pittsburgh is a town that is simple to drive in and these spots are an easy drive from downtown and would great places to go should your performance dictate that you are free on day 2 or 3 (and if you need a break from pinball machines for a little while)<div dir="auto"><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Restaurants:</div><div dir="auto">1) Uncle Sams Subs</div><div dir="auto">5808 Forbes Avenue</div><div dir="auto">Uncle Sams cheesesteaks are legendary. The ultra philly is especially good. This is a small local chain beloved by Pittsburgh residents. Cash only last I remember. </div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">2) Fuel and Fuddle</div><div dir="auto">212 Oakland Ave</div><div dir="auto">This place has a stellar beer selection and has good personal pizzas and an all around good menu that could satiate any group of starving college kids.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">3) Lulu's Noodles</div><div dir="auto">400 S Craig Street</div><div dir="auto">Excellent noodle spot. The drunken noodles are a favorite.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">4) Primanti Bros</div><div dir="auto">There are lots of these, google will tell you which one is closest. I had my first date with my wife at the one in Oakland (classy I know). Fries and cole slaw on deli sandwiches. Nothing fancy but quite delicious.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Booze:</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Fat Head's Saloon</div><div dir="auto">1805 E Carson Street</div><div dir="auto">This place has a great beer selection much of which they brew. Located on the South Side which is the main bar district. This area has changed so much that I cannot give a lot of advice but Fat Heads is a staple.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Other:</div><div dir="auto">Jerry's Music </div><div dir="auto">2136 Murray Ave</div><div dir="auto">Located in charming Squirrel Hill this is the absolute best record store in the country. Thousands of square feet of floor-to-ceiling used vinyl. In the early 2000s people would bring their entire collections to Jerry and he would buy a few records then the sellers would often leave their entire unbought collection in the entryway. Jerry would have giveaways twice a year where customers could take a MINIMUM of two sealed cardboard boxes of unsorted records and the line would stretch for blocks. Now that vinyl is popular again I don't think these giveaways are still happening but the store is more than worth a visit.</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Good luck and have fun!!</div><div dir="auto"><br></div><div dir="auto">Marc Borger</div></div>
