So I decided to take his Linux tool as a guide and eventually used some trial and error to figure out how things like Manual mode worked (because he doesn’t provide source code for his Windows tool), and I wrote my own CLI and GUI configuration tool entirely in Python (3). It requires two python modules to be installed: pyserial and ttkbootstrap.

At this point it is feature complete and works. It runs on anything that can use python so it works on Mac, Linux and Windows. Any even semi-recent version of those OSes has the needed usb serial library installed (well, definitely Ubuntu, as far as Linux - I don’t know about other Linux flavors).

My goal was primarily just to make an equivalent GUI tool that I can run on my MacBook. But I have also improved on some aspects of the original tool, such as automatically selecting the correct port (usually - if not you can choose the right one), and added some features. There is still some wonkiness in the UI (that I plan to fix), it may still have some bugs and it could certainly use code clarity improvements, so this is a beta. I’d also like to make some more improvements. But it fulfilled my main goal and I’ve actually used it to figure out an ideal setup for my Getaway.

If anyone wants to try it let me know, especially if you are on Linux or Windows as, while I can test those with a VM, you can’t beat the real thing.

This was *not* vibe coded although occasionally I accepted Visual Studio Code’s predictions of what I meant to write next as that saves some time occasionally, when it guesses right.

I can make a demo of the tool in use if there is any interest in that, but I’ll need some time to put together something good that best shows all the features and how to use them.
