Games Played: Wings of Glory Mercs: Recon (x2) Escape the Curse of the Temple (x2) The first game played was wings of glory. The Jonkes played Axis and Rich and Steve Played Allies. Rich went down somewhat early to a shot that caused an explosion and wings veteran Steve P. was left to try to defend against the forces of evil Steve P managed to take down Steve J with a lucky high damage shot leaving the wounded vet against the unproven novice pilot Emmett. after a few passes trading damage Steve P's experience one the day - with only one damage point to spare after the final salvo The second game played was Mercs Recon, which is basically (coop) rainbow six the board game. For the first game we played as the very well-armored CCC faction tasked with emptying a building of enemy forces by any means necessary. we successfully cleaned house and completed the mission. Mercs Recon has a long setup time and a steep learning curve so we played again. So the third game was again Mercs Recon, but this time playing as the honorable Kezai Waza Faction. The mission required we find an open terminal to access enemy data and then extract. We were well on our way but an unfortunate run-in with 2 Security forces with Shotguns left Steve J's Merc trapped in a room with an impassable destroyed hallway right outside. As such we were unable to fulfill the condition for this mission that all surviving mercs be extracted. The pizza had just arrived so it was good timing for a premature loss :) The final game we played was Escape the Curse of the Temple. In the first game we explored quickly but failed to effectively work together to get rid of cursed gems and ended up sealed in the temple forever in the second game we almost made it out but with 2 of us in the final room and the other three only a room or two away we ran out of time and lost again. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Result: loss. There were still enough wings for Wulf to feed his brother leftovers the next day. But it was also a win, because the recipe from the Cooks' Illustrated Meat Book was phenomenal. Who knew baking powder could do that to chicken? Pandemic: Legacy , for the month of January, though it took two attempts to complete the month. The first attempt was lost due to a sudden mutation of the black-colored disease, and several epidemic cards drawn early on, thus outbreaks chained across the middle-east and Asia. We also failed to properly utilize the special abilities of all of the characters, in order to move about the board and prevent outbreaks. *Game analysis:* Pandemic: Legacy uses the basic Pandemic set, but with additional rules, cards, and accessories. Legacy refers to effects that last between sessions of the game, as well as meta-effects that occur between sessions r are triggered during sessions. The box comes with stickers that get applied to the board and to character cards, boxes of new pieces that get opened as events trigger them, cards that are revealed only when triggered by events or other cards, cards that have scratch-off panels revealed depending on triggers, and even instructions to completed destroy cards after their use had been negated. One season consists of 12 months. Teams get two attempts to clear each month. There are rewards earned between sessions depending on the outcome of the session, including bonuses for clearing the session and for eradicating a disease. One of the legacy effects is that cities that suffer outbreaks--exceeding 3 counters of the same color--gain permanent counters that represent the unrest in those cities. As these counters increase, those cities become less and less accessible. Another legacy effect is the mutation of diseases, both beneficial and harmful. The black disease, mutated in the first month, is currently unable to be cured, and is more difficult to treat (takes 2 treatment actions in a turn to remove a counter). We were able to beat the second round, because there were many beneficial rewards even for failure, just by making it through so much of the game before we lost. Much of what will happen in further months is currently still sealed within their containers. It is hard to say how well it will play after several sessions, and since you only get two attempts at each month before you have to move on, if the difficulty is raised too high there won't be enough rewards to compensate. Another thing to consider about Pandemic: Legacy is that it is only playable once, through a season. There are many effects in the game that permanently alter or destroy cards--in that they tell you to tear them up when you use them, or have scratch-off panels. Also, there are stickers that affix to the game board and cards to represent the legacy effects. Despite this, it is still ranked #1 on BoardGameGeek.com There is a second season scheduled . I do not know if that will use the first season as a base, or provide an entirely new game board, sets of cards, and accessories. It does sound like it's set in the future, though, some 71 years after civilization ended, from the linked description. *William WulfLunaria, Ltd. Location: Rich?s house First up was a first play for me and Emmett and a first multiplayer play for Rich, of Terraforming Mars. This game is cool. You develop resources, build cities, water and forest while terraforming Mars, raising the temperature and oxygen level, and snagging VPs. Emmett crushed us! I came in 2nd and Rich was a close 3rd. Next up was a first play for Rich of Ticket to Ride India. This version of TTR has cramped quarters, so you end up cut off if you don?t act fast. Aside from the usual longest continual route bonus (that Rich won) you can also create loops to cities to get bonus points, which none of us managed to do this time. Rich took the win here by one VP over me. Lastly we played Dominion, a first play for Emmett. Not that surprisingly Rich won fairly handily here, creating lengthy chains, with me in 2nd, and first timer Emmett in 3rd.
