[FSPA] Buying tickets for Pinburgh - Urgent

Personally, I have absolutely no problem with how things are done. It is exactly like buying tickets for a high demand concert. I might have a small quibble with allowing people to buy five tickets at a time. Four might be real good and avoid tickets being rereleased for those who don’t have all of their ducks in a row.

I know when we were buying tickets for Hamilton last year there was a limit of two tickets. I don’t think you have to go to that level though.

Thanks for all the hard work that you and the rest of the gang put into this. Pinburgh has quickly gone from 170 players to 1000 and the biggest arcade in the universe!

Open question for the FSPA. Would you prefer this land rush style of signups or a lottery?

That would be a heck of a long shot if they had an extra ticket with your name on it. Only way to buy extras is to have player info ready. Optimal strategy was no great secret. Have some friends. Get ready to log in and put the max of 5 tickets in your shopping cart.

Gilles did it for me last year and took care of a few folks this year.

This was discussed on the list a few weeks ago, amid speculation that it would only take a minute to sell out. See also:

Last year, it was that fast, but then tickets came back online as the 15 minute limit expired.

Imagine a bunch of geeks (no, not us) sitting around with multiple devices trying to jump onto a queue.

So, then it says “please wait” and folks have 2 or 3 of those going. Then they get what they want and go back to playing pinball, as originally scheduled. So, the other devices may have tickets held in the cart until the 15 minute mark, and then they go to …. Somebody in line OR somebody trying to get in line.

I’m sure it is a “whole different thing” this year, but it probably doesn’t end in a minute.

That shouldn’t happen this year. If all goes as planned, leftover tickets will be released to the waitlist in order.

Long shot here but did anyone get any extra tickets? I was refreshing at 11:59 and when I went to purchase was already sold out. I’m on the waitlist but would love if anyone had one I could purchase from them

Thanks

I was able to get in and bought 2 tickets for the main event. Thank you Gregg Giblin for your assistance. I also appreciate those that sent me a link to order tickets. I am so glad I was able to buy tickets this year. I was #125 on waitlist last year and never got in.

Thanks again,
Mark Whipple

I am forgoing wprs because IFPA crashed. Thanks for the idea Jonathan, but I didn't want to forgo the tourney due to IFPA crashing. I just put in 111111111. I have to guess this is going to be the case for a lot of people.
