Time sync isn’t an issue for servers like these.  One... your phone is very much time syncd to the network.  Two, as a ssl enabled site that is also doing Payment transactions.. you know for sure the site is time syncd to at least your typical stratum3.
Your issue is more that precise time is not displayed to users... than your devices are not time syncd.... especially mobile devices.  Desktops are more likely to not be setup with ntp... but that is not likely a major factor here.

I think many people didn’t realize that there is not a standard clock out there, your phone isn’t the same as ShowClix server time which was probably set by some admin using his/her phone and not a stratum time server, so everything went on sale prior to someone’s phone that said 12:00.  Always start 2 minutes early.

I was on my phone driving down the Fairfax County Parkway and I got in.  Thankfully somebody else had my info so I immediately released the tix in my cart.  Keeping with the spirit of things though I bought my Replay pass & Intergalactic entry while driving.  Don't try this at home. :)
 
  
 
I love the eBay idea.  Maybe 20 entries or a small percentage.  Donate the proceeds to charity.  Complain about what you spent then buy a better data plan for your phone for next year.
