MOM's playoffs were held Wednesday, and for the first time in forever the
results actually mattered for IFPA standing! As usual, first place in each
division was awarded the Tiny Pinball Machine trophy feat. Iron
Maiden, once again built by Kevin Walton.

Chaos reigned because we had so many long playing games and Rob fretted
about the mean store manager coming in at 9:05 and telling us the store was
closed and to get the hell out. Thanks to Coach K having the wherewithal to
ask, we found out that a good manager was working that night and we had all
the time we needed. But just about every division ended up having to play
games out of order or waiting for longer games to finish. So the breathless
narrative below may take liberties with when specific games occurred.

A Division
#1 Dave Hubbard - 14 pts (hth)
#2 Joe Kosack - 14 pts
#3 Adam Ruben - 9 pts
#4 Barry Schwartz - 3 pts
Of course A Division picked all the long playing games, including two games
each of Batman 66, Godzilla, and Star Wars. Thank goodness Dave didn't have
a 6B point game like he did two weeks ago, just 2.7B. Barry didn't think
much of this score, nor did he care much for Joe's measley 250M earlier.
And he probably wasn't too happy with the opening game of Batman or Black
Knight against Adam. #1 seed Joe started strong with 4 point games all the
way until he hit the Hubbard Wall. #2 Dave had a good Batman score, left
Tokyo pretty much intact on Godzilla against Adam, but then roared back
with the aforementioned Star Wars game and 4 points against Joe on
Avengers. On the final game of Batman, Dave won, Barry came back with a
respectable 800M point second place, and Joe took third to tie up game
points with Dave. And again A Division glory came down to a head-to-head
tie.

B Division
#1 Mike Oehler - 14 pts
#2 Max Fraidin - 11 pts
#3 Rob Thomas - 9 pts
#4 Stephanie Traub - 6 pts
Starting on Godzilla, #1 seed Max blew it up with a huge 920M point game
leaving the other players in his wake... but then he suffered from some
game pick trouble on head to head matches on Addams Family and Batman. Mike
recovered from the destruction on the first game and won all of his head to
heads, barely beating Stephanie on Avengers but squashing the competition
on Batman and a second Godzilla game. Rob also recovered from Godzilla with
two solid h2h wins, but couldn't overcome the juggernaut that was Mike.
Going into the last game of Rush, Mike had enough points to assure victory
so his last place score on that game only disappointed Geddy, Alex, and
Neil. Max won the game and got enough points to clinch second place.

C Division
#1 Mike Long - 13 pts
#2 Ellen Surles - 11 pts
#3 Audrey Bonsignore - 10 pts
#4 Fred Reed - 6 pts
It was a good night for guys named Mike, although it didn't start out that
way. Audrey got a good start on Batman, stealing Mike's point in the
process. Mike fought back against her on Iron Maiden, then moved on to an
all together ooky win on Addams Family against Fred. Meanwhile, Ellen
recovered from a tough game against Fred on Hobbit by raging on Black
Knight two games in a row. It was just about anybody's game going into the
final (and blissfully short) game of Centaur, and Mike came through with
four points and victory. Good move, human.

D Division
#1 Kimberly Druhan - 14 pts
#2 Christine Rueter - 11 pts
#3 Jami Dennis - 10 pts
#4 Dave Reitz - 5 pts
Turns out it was also a good night for people who are related to guys named
Mike. Rookie player Christine traded blows with #4 seed Kimberly...
Christine won the first game on Hobbit, followed by Kimberly crushing on
Batman, followed in turn by Christine beating Kimberly on Batman. Dave,
who's been having t-shirt trouble all season, by his own admission wore the
wrong shirt Wednesday. Jami stole a point on Hobbit, took a win in his game
against Dave on Avengers, then lost his head-to-heads against the women.
Going into the final game on Iron Maiden, Christine and Kimberly were tied
for first... but then Christine stumbled as she ran to the hills while
Kimberly proved that she could play with madness, getting a score better
than the other players combined (while proud mom and C Division silver
medalist Ellen videoed the performance for posterity).

Congratulations to the finalists and thanks to all for playing the Spring
season!

And as you can tell from the 80+ degree days in March, Summer is coming
soon! Week 0 will be the Wednesday after Memorial Day with regular season
play starting June 7th. You can be sure that it will be fun AND we will be
using more machines with shorter game times. You won't want to miss it! See
you then.
