No doubt, effective points for forfeits is a necessity.

Someone losing a ladder ranking tiebreaker to a player with forfeits is an unfortunate rare side effect of the forfeit scoring rules.

Not that it is worthy of a rule change, a player who is on the bubble could intentionally forfeit their last game or two in week eight to move up a group (lowering their ladder ranking) and secure a spot in a higher division, thus bumping someone down to a lower division.  Although rare, this situation has occurred before, not intentionally, of course.  My point is, forfeits can have an impact on division placement costing someone several positions in the final standings.

How exactly are they being rewarded for forfeiting?  They still get zero league points for missed games, they might have to play in the same or higher group than before, and they have a minuscule bump to a second tiebreaker.  I'd wager the number of times this has actually affected playoffs fits on one of my hands after I've handled too many fireworks.

Not granting effective points for forfeits IS a reward, as it allows people to intentionally drop groups.

I've always complained about that, they are rewarded for not being there if they stay in that group and it could increase ladder value if they had a lower ladder value before that week.  If at the end of the season that person made playoffs by a fraction it could of been the difference.  If it has ever happened I don't know.

And that's the ONLY thing that sucks about the phantom points for players who miss a week without preplays. While it does tend to hurt them more due to the lost week of points and possible harder group the following week, it can affect tiebreakers.

Div Avg Ladder is your average ladder position at the end of Weeks 3-8, the first two and the last two are omitted from this calculation.  Ladder corresponds to your groupings, not how many points you earned.

The first two weeks are omitted so that if we misplaced anyone in a group, they have a chance to bubble up or down to where they're supposed to be.  The last two weeks are omitted because divisions are locked in at that point and no one is able to shift divisions after week 8.  

The first tiebreaker is always head to head standings.  If there is a tie for head to head (or if the two players in question never played each other,) then the next tiebreaker is the division average ladder.  If for some reason that is tied, then we go to your ladder position at the end of week 10, with the higher ranked player prevailing.

That's the average of your overall, week to week standings. It's used to figure out what division you're in and, IIRC, acts as a tiebreaker for finals qualification.

Game picks start at 4:45… if you are not there by then you will lose your picks. And it rarely hurts to have a set of picks ready against higher seeded players in case they show up late. (Not sure what game to pick? Use the research tools on the FSPA site to data mine your opponents' weaknesses!)

We start at 5 and if you’re still not there, you will lose your playoff spot and the next available player will move up. Players below the line: It may behoove you to be there in case of a no-show.
