Another example of making a game good for league and fun:

At silverball Sanctum on BoP, we "disabled" the billion point shot by
setting the timer to its minimum to make it impossible to get (yes, it's
impossible).  This is a much better solution than asking the players to
avoid making the billion point shot, or to cradle the ball and let that
shot timeout. If we couldn't disable that reward like that, we wouldn't
play that game in league.

For those who don't know, most scores on BoP range from 5-15 million. A 1
billion point shot that lights up somewhat randomly would ruin the
competitive aspect pretty significantly.
